Tim is correct. I think fall breeders are storing sperm until spring when they ovulate and fertilize the eggs. Having bred in the fall may allow them to fertilize their eggs a little quicker than trying to wait for a male in the spring. Thus the gestation period is the similar and is certainly temperature dependent for both groups.
