There is a distinct size differential between adult S. L males and S. L. females with males being the smaller of the two. I guess that the female needs the size in order to procreate. However, S. L. males are around 9 inches when ready to procreate, which is a good deal less than the 12 inch female. Regardless of the size differential, they work it out just fine.
