This post includes the flowering plant that (at about the age of 10 or 11) started my interest in botany... wandering through some nearby woods I happened across the Fringed Polygala, a common plant but uncommon in it's look. To this day I wonder why the flower evolved to this form. I've never looked into why and honestly I don't want to know... sometimes the knowing can ruin a thing.

The Gray Tree Frog is actually one of two I keep as pets. My older one I've had for 7 years... she developed a cataract about 3 years ago but seems strong and healthy otherwise... she declined the photo op though... such a vain little thing.

Anyway, here's to two more weeks of winter gone by and to the diversity and wonder of the simple things one encounters in the field.
