First pic is the controller, though mine has a 0-300 deg scale instead of the 0-1000 shown. Pic size is about actual size of unit. It plugs into a screw-terminal socket that can be wall-mounted.
This controller uses a thermocouple sensor - I bought one that is only 1/16 inch in diameter, which means very fast response to temperature changes. The controller can be far away from the heater if need be - the thermocouple wire can be run across a room easily.
The heater strips are 1 inch wide x 5 inches long. They are made of a wire heat grid coated in fiberglass-reinforced silicon. Only about 1/16 inch thick. Shown taped down onto the bottom of a glass tank.
I use these to heat through sand and slate for a rosy boa in this 5 1/2 gal tank. Flexwatt wasn't doing the job when the ambient air temp was cool, so I switched to these because they have a higher watt density.
