I have 1.2 adult Mandarins and a very recently aquired pair of Greens. I cycled the Mandarins "properly" ending up w/a NTL in the high 50s and a DTH of 70F. Light cycles were reduced to 8 hrs. and the NTL commenced at lights out. Typically I let the cage dry out over a period of 4 days then "rained" them with a larger droplet setting on my sprayer.

To date the male has bred one female 5 times and the other 3. Durations between copulations averaged 4-5 days.

I got the Greens 3 weeks ago but they were not allowed to get as cool (or for as long a period) as my Mandarins were. They had not bred for the previous owner..they've copulated 3 times so far for me. Oddly they were locked up once even though the female Green is opaque.

Also, neither male has shown the random copulatory behavior Sanzinia are known for..my male was in w/the females all Summer and courting/copulation did not commence until 6 weeks or so after cycling started. No courtship has been witnessed prior.

My question is in regards to cooling..is it to trigger the male into producing viable sperm, for the female to begin the ovulation process...or both?

Bill
