NO KIDDING! I watched the path a lot more after that encounter! My husband and our guide walked passed it and I noticed it!! I don't think it slithered between us, but it might have.
We did find a Brazilan Lancehead several years ago - but it was obvious and laying across the path! Usually it is really hard to find snakes and I don't worry much. The jungles are incredibley rich in diversity but very low in density. With birds, we often find only 1-2 individuals of any species and will see anywhere from 300-600 different species over 2 to 3 weeks of hard birding (sun up to sun down- with a break for the middle of the day).
