They're all my pets! . More seriously.. they aren't rare as much as very restricted in habitat and range. Once you spend some time learning how they operate and the visual clues to spotting them it becomes a lot easier.
I think more people not seeing them is due mainly to two things.. #1 it's all walking! no road cruising and absolutely no flipping (hard for many herpers to swallow).. #2 this area is too far away from hot spots for most other targeted Texas herps.
