>>The second (and last) clutch of the season was laid last night by an intermediate thayeri (see old picture of her below). I bred her to a Vivid line orange male with reduced black. Eleven eggs in all, and they were ginormous - one is elongated like the cal king eggs I used to see. The shell on one of the larger eggs, unfortunately, was too thin on one end and leaked (probably as it was being squeezed through the vent) while two others also showed leaks. However, the remaining eight eggs look sound and are now set up in my Hovabator set at 78 F. Got my fingers crossed for some pretty babies in late July! Above the picture of the female is a picture of the orange male. >> >>
very nice pairing there..... Congrats on the eggs!
I have had a pretty rewarding weekend over here as well..... 35 fertile eggs laid so far but still some infertiles in the mix....Kinda disappointing and exciting at the same time......
BTW....I had one female lay 12 eggs with the thin egg "tips"......5 have gone bad but the others crusted over nicely and I am hopping that they hatch. I do wonder what that is from though......Calcium deficiency? D3? None of the other eggs have this problem plus the female that laid the eggs was one of my best feeders....nice and plump.......She hardly looks like she has missed a few weeks of not eating through her shed cycle and time it took to lay her eggs....... ----- John Lassiter Poor planning and procrastination on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...
