Try keeping substrate temps in the upper 80’s for 24/7 and humidity at 75% to 80%. Many bloods display symptoms of initial RI when their lungs become irritated from a low humidity environment. By maintaining them at the temps and humidity I listed above, you can many times avert an RI episode if you catch it in the early stages. Make sure to monitor the humidity levels closely, because at the above temps, you can easily drop it too low inadvertently. Coughing along with a thick mucous discharge from the mouth and nostrils are usually the signs of a more advanced RI. What symptoms are you seeing?

If it acts a little better after a couple of days, see if it will feed. If it does eat, it most likely doesn’t have a serious RI. Also, if it has a really dried on shed, it will take a soaking of at least 24 hours to remove it all successfully.

If it does appear to have a definite RI, let me know and I can give you some treatment options. Please keep us posted and good luck,

Kelly
