Hi,
I think you have deal with europian Sand Lizard - Lacerta agilis.I know it very good, because in my home country it was one of subjects of my work for more than 10 years.Males are very agressive and territorial during breeding season only.Out of that condition they can share enclosure with any similar sized non-aggressive lizards.
But possible you have some desert runners- Eremias sp.There are about 30 mostly asian species of Eremias. At lest 8-10 of them are exceptional sand dwellers. All of them are even less agressive, than L. agilis does. Your lacertas can also belong to large genes Acanthodactylus, Meroles,Latastia.
Among so many candidats only thrue lacertas can have greenish tones in their dorsal coloration*) and some color patterns on belly.
-----
*)females -constantly, males may be at breeding season only
Alex
