This is my first year with multiple Kenyan litters, so please defer to those with more experience. Since no one else has put their 2 cents in yet, I will. Placing the neonates in a deli cup with a moistened paper towel certainly seems to make for a quick and easy first shed. I place the cup about 1/3 over the heat tape on one of my racks to keep them warm, and the usually shed in a few days.

One other tip that may come in handy some day. In a couple litters I've had a number of babies that just didn't want to eat no matter what I tried. I ended up losing a few. I tried "cupping" them as many suggest (placing them in a bare-bottomed deli cup with a pinky overnight), but I still had little success. I accidentally discovered later that by placing some substrate (I use sani-chips, others prefer sand) in the deli cup and allowing them to bury themselves improved my success rate considerably with these stubborn feeders. I guess they just need to let their "ambush" instinct work for them to stimulate their appetites.
