When I kept rosies years ago, they would breed successfully in Spring if all I did was darken the cage for the Winter. I left the heat on, but only around 82 deg, and the air temps did drop during Winter so much of the cage was nice and cool.
Some would eat all the way through but less frequently, some didn't eat at all (typically older males). All were healthy though.
