So I know of someone needing to get rid of their sub adult caiman due to it being illegal in their state. I have a very large space and I even have a pond tub that used to be in my yard, very large tube. I have mapped out a location and can provide a 10'L x 8'W x 5'D custom enclosure and have the tub pond installed easily enough for the caiman.

Before I decide to adopt the caiman I need to know if it is legal for me to have him in my state. I don't want to lose him to a humane society or anything due to him being illegal here. However I don't know what will happen to the caiman in Idaho who must be given up due to state laws. The department of fish and game has told the caimans current owner to get rid of the caiman.

I hope I can help out by adopting the caiman. I have done much research on thos smooth front caiman and I do have plenty of room for him. I assume he will be just as aggressive as my nile monitor (to be fair my nile is nice...well...as nice as a nile can get lol)

I do not intend to handle the caiman, just care for him. I know the expense they will cost me. Please don't tell me any of that I already am fully aware. What I can't find is any info on crocodillians as pets in michigan. Only restricted animals I have found are large cats, bears, and wolf hybrids.

If it is not illegal, would I need a permit? Or can I just have one here legally? Sorry to ask and make such a long read but before I commit I want to be sure its legal. As I said I could not find the answer to caimans.

Thank you very much
