Now, we all know that the Burmese Python has been added to the ban. However, I find it fare to say that excludes the Indian Rock Python.
The Burmese Python, scientifically, is classified as Python molurus bivittatus. Yes, it's a subspecies of the Indian Python, but it isn't the actual, nominate Indian Rock Python, Python molurus molurus. So even if the burm is banned, isn't it technically legal to own Indian Rock Pythons, which are (almost) the same thing, and if so, we should make them the replacement in the pet trade and hopefully they won't turn up in the Everglades.
I say start importing them and get them breeding in captivity so we can get all those cool morphs back in place. AND, let's hope no cheaters out there mix burm into their genes...
