I purchased a juvineille savannah monitor a little over a month ago and he/she despises me! I have never had so much trouble trying to tame a reptile in my life!

I take him/her out everyday for about ten minutes so I wont stress them out but he/she is progressivley getting more and more violent. I'm to the point now where I always have to have gloves on so they dont bite me and alligator roll my skin off. Everytime I go into their room they instantly head for a corner and coil up get ready to tail whip, and start hissing like a mad man. There was even a time I had them sitting on my leg and it suddenly turned, starting hissing and ran straight for my face with its mouth open.

I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong, or if maybe the temperature could be effecting him/her this way? I dont ever try to pick it up from over top so they dont feel like im a predator and now he/she has almost completly stopped eating. Please help me tame this beast and get it back to eating regularly!
