Anna:
As you may or may not know, in Oregon you can collect and maintain as many Rubber Boas (non-protected species), as your heart desires but with the provisions that they cannot be sold or bartered and have to be maintained in a humane manner.

As a serious hobby, I conduct both field and laboratory research on the Rubber Boa. You might consider the option of taking on a wild male and either maintaining it yourself or just use it for mating with your female then releasing it where found. This is something I have done over the years.

If you can travel to Corvallis, you could go out with me and capture your own male boa. A number of individuals have done that very thing over the years. My email address is charinabottae@earthlink.net should you wish to contact me directly.

Richard F. Hoyer (Corvallis, Oregon)
