Eastern Milksnake? Not certain.

My friends found this snake in their kitchen and snapped a pic.
They live in Western North Carolina at around 1,400 feet elevation. My gut instinct is that it's a juvie Lampropeltis triangulum, and we have both color phases of that snake pretty plentifully here. Any thoughts? Can't say I can recall having seen a triangulum juvenile, but I can definitely rule out quite a few local species, so that's where I'm leaning. Any experienced opinions would be appreciated!
