I was thinking the same thing as air temperatures tell us very little about the temps that these snakes choose to utilize for their needs at the time. Ground temps, under cover (tin, wood, rocks, shingles, etc.) temps, and even underground temps explain a lot more what's going on than the air temps with these cold blooded creatures.
