This habitat had some artificial cover and is a good place to find Coast Garter Snakes.

It's also got Santa Cruz Garters like this one, which was probably born last year.

A young Coast Garter that has yet to develop any red.

This pond is a good place for Santa Cruz Garters.

A SC Garter basking on dried cattails.

A giant Santa Cruz Garter Snake.

Easily the largest I've ever seen.

Her head reminded me of a Water Snake.

Orange Coast Garter from the same pond.

Another pic of the snake shown above.

Typical Coast Garters look like this.

A Coast Garter with nice red coloration.

I took a road trip to the Bay Area of San Francisco.

There were plenty of these cool-looking Aquatic Intergrade Garter Snakes.

There were a lot of Coast Garters as well.

Here's one crossing a hiking trail.

Though adults almost always have red or orange, this one was brown.

My favorite Garter Snake of the trip was this California Red-sided.

He was a good-looking dude.

It was a pretty good trip for finding Garter Snakes!
