Hey everyone. I've been wanting a large tortoise for some time and I'm thinking about either a sulcata tortoise or a leopard tortoise. My only long term experience with turtles are with ornate and three toed box turtles. I keep the box turtles outside all year as they are native to my area. I live near St. Louis Missouri so whatever my choice I would have to bring him/her indoors for the winter. My biggest questions/concerns: Which tortoise would be a better option for a beginner like me? What would be the best indoor housing option? Would starting with such a large tortoise even be a good option? I'm leaning more towards the sulcata. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
