Herpers look at plastic boxes in a totally different way compared to the rest of humanity. I saw those boxes just the other day and thought the same as you - hide box with side access/viewing.

Kudos for the outdoor caging. My next project is exactly that - an outdoor (dare I say it) snake cage. I am going to attempt a cornsnake outdoor enclosure, at least for Spring and the more mild days of Summer. Heat waves and Winter will still require an indoor cage depending on how the snake does.

I have a box turtle that has lived outdoors now for the last 5 years, and she has done way better outdoors than she ever did indoors. She is vibrant and healthy. Although she only digs down a few inches to avoid temperature extremes, the enclosure has a good 18 inches of soil depth, so it insulates well against heat waves as long as it gets moistened as necessary. Plus plants for shade.
