So, I picked up some WC baby hogs last year, and some feed better than others, some scented at times, some all the time and some are fine with no scenting.
Then there is this female that have never ever showed interest in anything for over a year. Toads from Ohio, tuna, smelt, etc etc etc.
I have assist fed her from the time I got her back from my friend. I get her mouth open slightly and slip in a pink and shes very good to take it down from there. At times its hard to open her mouth, so I try a few days later.
Anyway,, today I was in the yard and I saw a quarter size toad in the yard. What the heck,, I take it inside and place in a small tub with her and she goes crazy. So I pull the toad and use it to scent a pink. (I use what is left of a toad from Texas, frozen) She goes back to laying there like a stick. NOTE I'm very good at moving feed to stimulate feeding but not with her.
So, new idea. I put the toad in the container to excite her and as she is going toward the toad flicking her tongue like I have never seen, I wiggle to pink on top of the toad and then slightly away and she follows it and POW she nails it.
Now I want to make a feed container with a partition with the toad on one side and the snake and a pink on the other, with holes. maybe in all that excitement hard to feed hogs might take pinks better?
sorry for the sucky pic
 ----- Thanks for reading. Tom
