Hi Stu,
Well I talked to a lady in Game and Fish in NM....
She sent me some good info on what's required in NM. Hognose is considered Group III, which requires a permit!
Director's Species Importation List 3Aug10 www.wildlife.state.nm.us/apps_permit/documents/importation/DIRECTORSIMPORTLISTAUGUST32010.pdf
Regulation 19.35.7 NMAC Importation of Live Non-Domestic Animals, Birds and Fish www.wildlife.state.nm.us/apps_permit/documents/importation/19357ImportationFINAL.pdf Statute nmsa 1973 www.wildlife.state.nm.us/apps_permit/documents/importation/17-3-32 NMSA 1973 - Importing Animals.pdf

So yes you have to have a permit to import Hognose into NM.
People there now without a permit with Hognose are SOL! She told me you can't get a permit and keep what you have already. This has been the law since 1967 updated in 2010. No distinction between wc and cb, it doesn't matter, they are all treated the same....according to her.
Money Money Money!
