Actually, the Evan's "Hypo" isn't a real Hypo. In fact, many years ago, it was just called a Hypo and everybody accepted that as a fact (including myself). Then I took it upon myself and did research on what Hypomelanism meant and determined that "Hypos" were in fact a type of Amelanistic morph, so then I started calling them Evan's Amels. Well, the Evan's part stuck with the community but so did the erroneous Hypo part, and now everybody calls them Evan's Hypos. Again, there is nothing Hypomelanistic about this morph as Hypomelanism is defined by having a reduction of melanin which should also still be present to some degree but these animals are completely devoid of all melanin thereby rendering them, by definition, as Amelanistic.

A lot of people don't realize it but there are actually a lot of Amelanistic types of hognose which includes: "Classic" Albinos, Evan's Amels, Toffeebellys, Pink Pastels and Lavenders.

Some people also like to attribute that Evan's are T Amels, but this is pure conjecture on their part as no Tyrosinase tests have ever been done to confirm this as fact. While it is possible that these people might be guessing correctly, until it can actually be proven, they need to stop with the conjecture which only adds more confusion and ignorance to our already terribly confused hobby.

As far as the "True Hypos" are concerned, while I do not have any nor seen them in person, I've been told that these animals do exhibit a reduction in melanin but also have a certain amount present. If this is true, based on what I've been told by those that own them and the pictures I've seen, then these are really the only currently known Hypos out there.

It's kind of funny that these animals have been named "True Hypos", especially when those people that have them still call the Evan's Amels, Evan's Hypos, which obviously renders the Evan's as a "False" Hypo if in fact the other one is "True".
