long time no post! this board is rather slow, but i thought i'd throw this out there and see if anyone has any ideas.

my redfooted female, junior, has always been very tame and mellow, as my husband and i (as well as various friends and rommates through the years) have always gently handled her, fed her treats, et cetera, since we got her as a month-old hatchling. she's pretty fearless aside from the occasional flinch if something surprises her, and never bites anything aggressively -- it's always been as if she was just checking something out when she did.

these past few days, though, she's acting like a different animal! very snappy at hands, feet, the cats, you name it. at first i thought that maybe she was just hungrier because it's been warming up -- she usually does become more active in summer, of course -- but even after a larger than usual meal, she's still snappy!

she turned 10 last october, and i'd wonder if it was related to mating behavior/frustration if i didn't know 100% that she is female (she was spayed a few years ago because of retained eggs). she also had a healthy checkup maybe a little over a month or so ago.

if she keeps it up, i may just call her vet to see if he has any ideas... in the meantime, i guess we'll watch our fingers and toes and do some more research online!
