They are rigid, and quite thick. I have dropped some in the past from about 4 feet up with no breakage (they kind of bounce). Temperature spec'd from below freezing to about 200 deg F I think. Pretty tough. Food safe, so snake safe.

Only downsides I have found:
1. They can scratch if using rocks or sand in the cage.
2. They are quite heavy compared to polypropylene boxes (sterilite, etc)
3. Like glass, they tend to heat up quickly over the heat source, but are cold about 2 inches from the heat source edge. This is the one property that I do not like.
4. Expensive (but last forever)
