Yesterday I was in my backyard doing some yard work when I seen a hatchling sulcata walking around I was very surprised. I have a female sulcata that is 6 years old and had a male which I sold 2 and a half years ago. So when I found the hatchling I was confused. I looked around the yard and quickly found the nest where it had crawled out. It was easy to find because i found another hatchling crawling out. I dug up the nest but found no more eggs. I dug a pretty big hole about 2 feet around and a foot deep but nothing. I assume this is her first clutch. So my questions are could she have only laid 2 eggs and did she really wait 2 years after breeding to lay eggs? From what I've read sulcatas can store sperm for about 3 years and they also lay around 10 to 25 eggs a clutch as well as several clutches a year. She roams free in my yard and we live in a desert climate where she is outside 10 months of the year.
