Has the snake actually shed his skin yet? If not it might not want to eat yet. There are different schools of though about feeding while shedding. Some keepers say it is fine, while other keepers generally don't feed during the shedding process (from blue eyes until the skin is shed). Usually you can tell a few days before the eyes turn blue, as the snake will look really dull compared to the normal coloration.

I usually withhold food during the shedding process, and don't even bother trying to feed until after the shed is done. However, I find that the snake is fully willing to feed after the shed, and usually with gusto. One of my kingsnakes shed last week, and I noticed that he was shedding while I was feeding other snakes, so I decided to try and feed him when he was done. He nearly jumped out of his tub after my feeding tongs just minutes after he had finished shedding.
