Low total T4, normal Ft4ED, doesn't tell you much, as Dr. Tobin mentioned.

You need to know if there are any antibodies, so the TgAA should be tested. With that type of difference between the TT4 and the FT4, there might T4 auto-antibodies, but I'm not as sure about that, that's where the consult with Dr. Dodds would come in.

The problem with most vets is that they are taught (and the universities are still teaching it, aargh!), that the TSH means something in canines, and they don't understand the process of how a thyroid essentially dies and the problems that it can create during this process.
