CH. High Ridge's Beni Tatsumaki
February 2, 1998-October 5, 2013

With a heavy heart and profound sadness I pass along the news that Beni passed away quietly in his sleep last night. Beni came into my life on July 18, 2003 when his owner/breeder was dying of cancer and could no longer keep her dogs. At once Beni became my velcro dog and constant companion. He took over the area here at my desk where my feet go and used this area as his den. There were many a night when he would fall asleep with his chin resting on my feet. As far as Shiba Inu's go Beni had the sweetest most even tempered disposition which really became evident during our countless trips to Cornell where he was always the star and never complaining through the thousands of eye drops once he was diagnosed with glaucoma in September 2006. During Beni's time with Valerie he had quite a career in the show ring on his way to becoming a major pointed champion and he continued to be my champion with my fight to keep him sighted as a long as I could. This morning I gave Beni one last drop in his eye before saying goodbye. I do believe when dogs die that they go to a good place. I know one day that Beni and I will be reunited and I will see his sweet smile and will once again look into those beautiful brown eyes that were taken away by this dreaded disease. Beni I will miss you forever... good-bye my friend.
