If you have a male and female then the chances are that the bigger the pond the better. Spring is the time the water starts to warm up and the females will start to fatten out. In the late spring they will mate and you wil need to provide lots of vegetation for them. It can take a few years though or if you are lucky and the fish are old enough it may happen in the first year. You just have to be patient.
