Well. I'm in for it now. ME AND MY BIG MOUTH. A woman asked me if I would take a fish in. She was given an aquarium setup, and there was this fish that was outgrowing the tank - it was a 20 gallon she SAID.

She also had no idea what the fish was, she hadn't found any matching photos in her fish books or on the net. Hm....I like puzzles. And challenges. So I said, stupidly, "I'll take the fish, don't kill it."

So here she comes the next day with this huge thing jammed into an icecream bucket.

I thought cichlid and started looking, and found nothing. So I took a photo and posted it, and ok, it's a Pacu.

Hoo boy. So now looks like I'm going to be setting up something roughly the size of a small ROOM, in my basement, because this fish has been documented at up to 30 years old and 36 inches long.

Anyone got any ideas for a tank? Maybe I should just set a swimming pool up and get it over with.

I SHOULD tell you too, that the basement in my house is not a regular basement living space. It is strictly the pet zone. No human living space.

BY the way, I did research the nutritional and temps etc. for the fish, so I know I can feed him properly etc. But is a swimming pool the best thing in the end, or ???
