Hi. 
It is possible that your first female, died of natural causes. Unless you are positive of her age when you purchased her, it's a definite possiblity.
As for your other female, how much do you feed and how often? It is possible she is just over stuffed. This could lead to swim bladder problems. The peas would help with the swim bladder problems if she were to develop them. How many days is a couple? two? I often recommend a 5 day fast.
