OK. I'm not very familiar with goldfish (at least not on an anywhere near professional level) I can identify varieties and conformation...
Anyway, while cruising Petsmart last night, just looking mind you...I was visiting the red and white ryukins when I saw it...
A scaleless ryukin.I will now refer to it as a female.
She is beautiful! One side is pure white, no markings, and her other side has a patch of orange near her belly. On her white side, her eye has a very faded rim, making the entire orb appear inky black.
She has what appears to be a single oversized mettalic scale on each side, but in different places, maybe about 2mm across. On one side her gill cover appears to be scaled as well, while on the other side it is the area between her eye and gill.
I have never seen this before, and my searches online only turned up a thread in another forum about "matte ryukins" that have clear scales...but did mention a breeder attempting to breed for scaless.
Does anyone know anything about this? Is this rare? Was this a good buy at $12?
I'll post a pic tommorrow.
