As much as I would love to help you on your filter question, I am not sure. I don't have a SW aquarium, nor have I ever owned one. You're one step up on me when it comes to that.

What I can suggest is to stop by our fish chat. If you can make it there is a chat Tuesdays from 10-11 p.m. EST. A few people on there know a lot about filters, and some have saltwater tanks. It's also a good place to chat with other people who have fish tanks (lots of interesting topics usually). If you can't make it to the chat, let me know and I can promote your post to attract people to your post so you can get a few good opinions. Or I can even if you do want to stop by the chat.
