Hello all. I am new to the forum and am very glad I have found you. The last week of July some friends brought me a mynah nestling. It appeared to be about a week old based on feather development. We tried unsuccessfully to find the nest from which it had fallen. There were no mynah nests in either of the trees within 50m of their garden. They had never seen mynahs around their home.

In any case, because I had successfully raised other homeless nestlings, he became my new baby. I was able to find some information on feeding him, and he seemed to be doing great. Unfortunately, two weeks in, my husband and I were scheduled to leave Saudi to go back to the US for my son's graduation.

I left instructions with my housekeeper to continue feeding as we were, but to gradually decrease the liquid/mynah pellets ratio we were using until he was being fed only pellets.

That is not what happened. When I returned home, he was being fed chopped up chicken hot dogs, cat food, apples and any thing else he would eat. I have been trying to get him to go back to the pellets, and he is not averse to them except in size, it seems. Do any of you have any tricks to getting a bird to be more open to eating larger sizes of pellets? I am feeding him a good quality pellet specifically for mynahs/toucans. He is not eating as much as I think he should, so I am still quite concerned overall.

Thank you for taking the time to read the whole volume. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Yewbie is a funny little bird. He fits right in with the rest of our zoo.
