well, I would like to say birds are the same as caring for a dog or cat, but I would be misleading you. However, I will discuss the simularities first. Parrots do take a bunch of time, money and responcibility, as do dogs but parrots also need a whole new outlook. First off, let me make this very clear, birds are extremely sensative to fumes, more so than dogs, and you need to have special care when you look to cook, and make sure you cook nothing with teflon, 'cause that could be the end of your bird. Also cleaning supplies that you use around your bird should be used in a well ventalated area, some will even argue that you should use organic materal around you feathered friend. Sorry if this is a little choppy, I love talking about parrots, and I just skip around alot.

--------------------------------------------

Macaw in general along with feeding, housing, breeding and any other information. Any help is appreciated!!

----------------------------------------

Feeding:

Macaws among pretty much any parrot will eat whatever you are eating. Chopped up veggies, fruits, and pellets (I recommend pretty bird, or zupreem, that seems to be my bird's favs.) Avoid chocolate, caffine, and avacados, and apple seeds.

housing:

Get the biggest cage you can afford that would comfortably fit your macaw. I also recommend a sturdy playgym.

I'm not sure what type of parrot your looking for, however I strongly recommend a green wing macaw, or if you have the money, a Hyacinth.
