where to put dove cardboard nest box

I got a pair of ringnecked doves, two different colors. I found a site that gave info on making a cardboard nest box to put in the cage. I don't know if its supposed to be on the floor of the cage or somehow attached to the side of the cage or what. So, where do I put the cardboard nest box in the cage?
