Camping with horses takes some planning You will have to carry in hay and feed for the duration of the trip, as well as water if there aren't going to be readily available water sources. Chances are good your horses will have to stand tied and you'll want them to have enough rope to be comfortable and to get to their feed, but not enough to step over and get tangled in. Watch the weather before hand, snow isn't a problem but cold rain can be rough on the horse if they don't have shelter. If the temps are going to be really chilly (as in below freezing) you might want to bring extra hay. Another thing to watch for on the weather is wind - lots of wind will make the trip rough without shelter.
You will also want to make sure that the trails and camping area you are planning on going to allow horses. Some places don't and some places have very specific rules regarding bringing horses.
Good luck and get lots of pictures for us! ----- PH Cody HorseHobbyist Site Coordinator
