>>Hi, i lived in egypt for 3 years a long time ago and i went there on holiday a short time ago. I found a lovely donkey quite well cared for (seeing as egypt is quite a dirty country)and bought him. i bought him back to where i live (france), put him in a field with other donkeys but i am not sure what i have to do now, i mean healthwise. He was obviously not vaccinated, and he went into quarrentine when he got here, but now do i vaccinate him, do his feet, etc...? he seems very happy with this dramatic change of landscape and hope he will live in happiness. Please answer!
Was he vaccinated while in quarrantine? If not, you need to get a veterinarian out to vaccinate him and check him over. And I wouldn't recommend trying to do his feet without professional help either, at least until a farrier has shown you what to do and what not to do! Quickest way to really mess up his legs is to do the feet wrong. Other than that, grab a really good book on Donkeys and start reading I'm not familiar with France's landscape and climate, but I would be careful not to let him get too much grass too soon, as he's probably not used to a rich diet being in Egypt! ----- PH Cody HorseHobbyist Site Coordinator
