I completely understand your position, but unfortunately it is one that will cause endless suffering for many unwanted horses. In a perfect world where all animals could live till they died of old age this activity might not be warranted. But in the real world as long as horses are bred in the numbers they are bred in and then basically discarded, only to suffer at the hands of neglect etc. I would much rather see them put to use as a food and given a quick death, than to be allowed to die an ignoble death from neglect. We see way too many instances of discarded horses every day at the rescue centers and while it is a shame it IS a fact of our world as it really is.
