From the pics, I would venture to guess female. But I wouldn't put any money on the table at this point. Are you any good at holding your T with a pinch grab? I've found I can get some good pics by pinch grabbign in the left hand and taking pics with the right. That way there is no glass in between. Get as close as you can while maintaining the clarity.

If you moisten the molt with soem soapy water, you can try to unravel the abdomen. I use tootpicks to manipulate it. It takes some patience, and goes better if you can look through a microscope or a magnifying glass.
