Hi There,

Either this infection isn't sensitive to the antibiotics your cat has been on, or the sample taken isn't sterile in the first place.

Your vet should take the next sample and send it to a lab for a culture. This will determine exactly what antibiotics will work on the infection. The sample must be taken using a needle and syringe to be considered sterile.

It makes no sense to keep an animal on an antibiotic for so long that isn't even helping. The only thing it might do is cause the cat to be resistant to that antibiotic in the future.
