Do you think he might be lost? Is it worth putting an add in the paper and letting the local SPCA know you have a "found" cat?

This is a great idea! Many newspapers don't charge for a lost or found ad if it's three lines or less. I've only tried it once - and while I think the owner was found, she flaked and disappeared again. So my roomie and I found kitty girl a new home from the same ad.

Also in my area, there is a woman who keeps an online database of lost pets - pet FBI or something like that. Maybe there is something similar in your area?

Poor cat must be so confused not to have a home so late in life!
