Introductions are best when done slowly over a couple weeks... It is best not to drop the kitten in the middle of the living room and "let them work it out". Isolate the kitten to a bedroom with all her stuff (food, water, litter, toys) for a few days and have supervised introductions (you may want to put the kitten in a cat carrier for the first couple untroductions... You will be able to play it by ear as to how fast your older cat warms up. You may be able to put them together before a couple weeks are up or you may need to take more time... I'd keep the in/out cat in for the first few days until I am sure she is comfortable with the new kitten. It is best to retrict the kitten to the room the first few days rather than the older cat so the older cat doesn't think it is being punished. Sometimes they warm up right away, sometimes they need the few days of slow introductions... Good luck! Remember slow and steady wins the race...
