Hi There,
I flew cross-country with 2 cats many years ago and I had them in the cabin with me. They didn't have much room, but I had peace of mind knowing they were ok. One of my cats was crying when we took off and I was right there to at least talk to her. I was told before we took off that I was not to open the carrier for any reason during the flight.
You never know what might happen when animals are checked with the baggage. I have heard enough horror stories about pets getting out of their crates, ending up in another city, or even not surviving the flight.
If possible, I would look into getting a non-stop flight if you can. It would be easier on both you and the cats, and the trip itself would be much shorter. I do realize that the way things are with airlines these days that fewer flights are available.
Please let us know what you decide.
Regards, PHKitkat
