PAWPRINTS
Pawprints on the window,
Pawprints at the door;
Pawprints up and down the stairs,
And all about the floor.
In and out the kitchen,
Underneath the bed;
Pawprints on the counter,
Waiting to be fed.
Pawprints growing slower,
As the years slip by;
Sleeping at the window,
Gazing at the sky.
Pawprints in my memory,
Running to the door;
Pawprints etched into my heart,
But in the house no more.
