You are asking this question to the wrong forum. Most of the people here are very narrow minded and believe that only their own opinion is correct, and feel just fine about flaming you for your thoughts and views, rather than just giving you the answer you are asking for.

To answer your question, the laws for venomoids and venomous snakes are the same, the law does not bend for venomoids. The reason for this is, that many of the snakes that undergo surgury to become venomoid, have the surgury wrong. If even the smallest piece of the venom glands remain, the snake can still be venomous after the surgury.

Also if you are serious about wanting such an animal that has undergone this surgury, make sure that either you take the animal to a qualified vet yourself to have it done, or you can confirm that the person you are buying the (already de-venomized) snake from had a qualified person perform the surgury. Just buying a venomoid snake from anyone that tells you it is a venomoid can lead to a few problems including:

1. a snake that is not truely venomoid because the surgury was done wrong.

2. a snake that this person has done the surgury on himself

3. a snake that has not even gone through the surgury

As sad as it is, there are some sick people out there. DO NOT support anyone that does these surguries themselves. I have also heard of a case where a person wanted a venomoid snake. The person he was buying it from did not agree with having such a surgury done to snakes so he lied to the buyer just to "punish" him. The snake was sent to the buyer and was a Gaboon Viper, which had never gone through any surgury at all. The buyer who was expecting a snake that was not venomous or dangerous in any way. As you can guess, he was bit, and did not survive, and the seller is now in prison for murder. If I can find the ad again I will post a link to it.

The moral to the story is do not buy any snake from the sad people on this site. I personally would not do business with anyone here for any reason. The way they act, and talk to people in the forums is enough to show me that they are not really the type of people anyone should do business with.
