>>I was looking for advice to prevent behaviour problems because my boyfriend has heard some horror stories about confined cats. I've been giving him lots of attention and his favourite food and we've taken him out for cuddles. I'm just worried about the length of time he has to stay in the cage. The other problem is that I am on leave at the moment, but I have to go back to work in a few days and then he'll be alone during the day. I've put toys in with him and I'm hoping he'll want to play with them.
I think you are doing the best you can to prevent behavior problems with the cat. Is the cage near a window? If he can look out it might help - when I have to board my cat I always insist on a window seat and it seems as if my cat does much better. Also you might want to consider leaving a radio on in the room - not very loud - I understand talk radio is best, although don't let your cat near your phone or he might call in with an opinion! -----
