Kitty should be fine as long as the airconditioning is working. Don't park your car and leave him unattended though - cars can heat up quickly in hot weather. It would be best to have another human along so you can take potty breaks while one person sits in the car with the ac on.

Be sure that all the motels/hotels you will be staying at allow pets - call in advance! Soemtimes they say they will take pets then change their policy!

Kitty should have a collar with an ID and also be microchipped if possible. Don't allow him to roam loose in the car, and be sure the carrier is secured with a seatbelt in case of an accident.

Good luck and have a safe trip!

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!
